Professor James Driscoll is a solicitor, an author, an academic and a Judge, First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber). He has practised law since 1975. He is also an ADR accredited mediator specialising in housing law and property law matters. A prolific author of books and articles, he is the Consultant Editor to Butterworths Residential Landlord and Tenant Handbook ( 6th edition, 2012), to Halsbury’s Laws, volume 56 (Housing, 2011), the new fifth edition of volumes 62, 63 and 64, (Landlord and Tenant 2012) and several other books and loose-leaf works. James has contributed to Enfranchisement Explained which was published by the RICS in May 2010.

James is a consultant editor to the Landlord and Tenant Reports and he contributes article to the Estates Gazette, the New Law Journal and other professional and academic publications. He is also a well-known and regular speaker at conferences on housing and property law

He has also held several academic positions in England and the USA. He is currently a Visiting Professor of Law at the University of Essex and he is Emeritus Professor of Property Law at London South Bank University.
